Urban Cottage, a new shop in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, Calif. celebrates what I believe is one of the hottest home trends happening right now.
Mixing old and new, the shop's owner and curator Melissa Zambrano juxtaposes the rough hewn with the refined, for a completely modern take on the shabby chic trend.
It's lived-in luxe, with an edge. The luster of burnished gold frames, gilt-rimmed glasses, shiny accessories and sparkling chandeliers contrast with worn leather, burlap and linen penants, recycled wood, found objects and industrial metals.
The best part: the look can be achieved through tweaks -not renovations- of what you already own. Swap out a chair or table, with an edgy new piece and give a room a brand new feel.
Ultimately, it's an eclectic combination that creates a conversation in your space and gives it a sense of soul.
I love this idea! A rustic, holiday pennant using burlap and twine. The jingle bells make it shine! (oops, didn't mean to rhyme...can't seem to stop...)
Animal prints make a bold statement and mix easily with a variety of home styles. (Below) A toast to elegant, grown-up good taste.
HHoot!Hoot!
