Sweetness: Pop Bar

What's hotter than a September day in Southern California? Pop Bar, the DIY popsicle chain that has arrived in Anaheim, California via Jakarta.

Tucked into the new Anaheim Packing House the concept is FroYo meets gourmet ice cream truck and it is quickly earning rave reviews from customers and critics alike.

How it works: first, choose a Popbar (choice of popGelato, popSorbetto, or YogurtPop); next select toppings (think: crushed waffle cones, almonds, hazelnuts, sprinkles, coconut, carmel corn or pistachios); and finally decide on dipping strategy (half dip? drizzled? dunked?). Prices vary depending on selections.

Flavors range from fresh and fun (such as: Apricot, Mango, Kiwi, Strawberry popSorbettos) to traditional, creamy gelatos (think: Green Tea, Banana, Coconut, Coffee, Peanut Butter) and YogurtPops in chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.

Luckily, during peak hours, waiting in line should allow for time to decide.

For the sake of research, I chose the vanilla gelato dipped in mint dark chocolate, rolled in pistachios and drizzled with white chocolate on one side (restraint!).

Look ma, no spoons!
