Thanksgiving Table: Sweet Favors!

Several years ago we were invited to a special Thanksgiving dinner with good friends. When we sat down at a beautiful table every place setting boasted a little chocolate turkey and a holiday popper.

It immediately felt like a party.

The simple addition of a special treat (even for the grown ups!) -was a thoughtful and unexpected touch!

Although we prudently waited until after dinner to devour the treats (along with an amazing dessert...more about dieting later..) -our little tabletop friends had set the mood from the start: fun, festive & special.

After the meal had finished we cracked open the poppers and it really felt like the holiday season had begun.

The foil-wrapped chocolate turkey is from See's Candy and the frosted sugar cookie is from Parchment Cookies (and yes, they ship!). The idea would also be cute with a single truffle in a gold box (i.e.,Godiva Chocolates); a striped candy stick with colors that match your table decor; or Hershey Kisses in autumn-colored foil. Since many of my friends will also be celebrating "Thanksgivukkah" this year, chocolate coins wrapped in gold would also look festive.

If you have other favor ideas, or table top traditions of your own -please share in the comment section below!
